Character's original name: Prompto Argentum
Character's current name if different: It’s the same
Character age: 21
Original Canon format (Anime, manga, video game, live action TV, novel, web comic, etc.): Video game
Name of original canon: Final Fantasy XV
If the AU is just adding or taking a different path, canon point before AU: Near the beginning, running fetch quests for Dino, after the fall of Insomnia, before going to Lestallum.
Is the canon point more than 6 months old in the US as far as you know?: Yes
If not, as best you know it, US release date of the canon point: 2015
How does the AU personality and history differ from the canon personality and history?: In this AU the characters all have wings (and in general most people do). In canon Prompto is born in Niflheim as a clone and Magitek experiment, but rescued as an infant and grows up with adoptive parents in the crown city of Insomnia. In this AU he isn’t found until he’s 11 years old. He underwent harsh training, experimentation, and essentially brainwashing in those years. He was rescued by Cor and some other Kingsglaive on a reconnaissance mission, taken back to Insomnia, and still adopted eventually once he’d acclimatised to regular Lucian society and learned the language. Much of the big keystrokes of his teen years going to school and meeting Noctis are all the same, with the addition of the fact that he hides his wings because of their colouring. He also has a close relationship with Cor, and sees him more as a parent than his absentee adoptive parents. Personality wise Prompto is the same ball of sunshine and insecurities he has always been, with an added extra dose of self-loathing. Since in this AU he is fully aware of his origins he has somewhat of a version of imposter syndrome about, well, being considered human. But this is Prompto so repress and suppress, he’s just trying to get by and not lose his only friends. He’s also an even better fighter here than in game, though he tries to keep that under wraps. He also doesn’t actually know how to fly due to rules at the Training Facility and then his hate for showing his wings in Insomnia.
Please list and explain the three worst (morally) things your character has ever done in canon that you have not changed: 1. ‘Lies’ to his friends about who/what he is. (He just doesn’t tell them), but he feels like it’s a bad thing to keep this secret from them. 2. Hunts in the game can be anything from daemons to just a pack of animals, and he has helped with those, so killing harmless creatures, even if it is for money or meat. 3. On a similar hand they have fought the empire a few times and have in fact blown up a fully human man (at least one) even if it’s self defence/for the greater good, it’s still technically murder.
Please list and explain the three best (morally) things your character has ever done in canon that you have not changed: 1. Helped Pryna, Luna’s dog, when he found her injured on the street. Took care of her and fed her until she was well enough to go home. 2. Was/is a good friend to Noctis, pays attention to his interests and dislikes and doesn’t take advantage of his status as Crown Prince. 3. Chooses to go with Noctis on his trip to Altissia for his wedding to Lunafreya, despite being warned it might be a bit dangerous and having to undergo training. He stays with the group even after the fall of Insomnia when their quest becomes truly dangerous and swears to protect Noct.
Please list and explain the three worst (morally) things your character has ever done in your AU version: 1. Killed an ‘innocent’. As a test to prove his ability to follow orders he was told to shoot a human instructor. He did, as they would have terminated him otherwise. 2. In his mind, he is fully taking advantage of the guys. He isn’t human, and doesn’t deserve the care and affection they show him, so he feels he is tricking them and abusing their friendship. 3. One particularly rough incident while travelling back to Insomnia almost resulted in the deaths of several of the Kingsglaive. They ran into a bunch of MTs and Prompto did everything his tiny eleven year old self could to try and get to them.
Please list and explain the three best (morally) things your character has ever done in your AU version: 1. Despite the danger of voicing such things, he tried actively to help other kids in the training facility that were also ‘malfunctioning’ like he was. (the terms used to describe not being fully obedient basically.) 2. He nearly sacrificed himself fighting a behemoth trying to protect Cor in the Niflheim snow plains on the trip to Lucis. 3. In this AU Prompto is fairly close with Cor and some of the other Kingsglaive, once he settles in a bit he makes a point to always get them little gifts for their birthday or holidays or sometimes just because.
Please put all of the best and worst things explained above above on a timeline relevant to each other: 1. Advised other kids to be quiet about malfunctions at the Training Facility. 2. Killed an instructor at the Training Facility. 3. Put the Kingsglaive in danger while escaping from Niflheim. 4. Also tried to protect Cor from a Behemoth in Niflheim. 5. Gifts for Cor and the Kingsglaive after he’s adjusted to life in Insomnia. 6. Helps Pryna the pup recover from her injury. 7. Becomes good friends with Noct. 8. Lying to the guys. 9. And the subsequent feeling of taking advantage of their kindness. 10. Still choosing to accompany them to Noct’s wedding. 11. Hunts for money and dispatching some animals. 12. Oops killed some Imperial soldiers.
Do you consider your character a hero, an anti-hero, a good aligned side kick, a bystander, a victim, a fence sitter, a mercenary, an evil aligned side kick, a villain, or something else? Why?: In some ways he’s a victim, he’s still struggling with a lot of bad stuff that happened to him beyond his control, but he also, tries at least, to not let that define him. I’d say he’s somewhere between a hero and a ‘sidekick’. He does a lot of good to help save the world (later in canon but still), but he always thinks of it as second fiddle to helping Noct. Whatever way you look at it he is Good though.
Do you think your character should start on the Isle or in Auradon? Why?: I feel Auradon. He really is a good kid, despite what he thinks about himself. Not to mention finding out why he might have popped up in the Isle might literally break him…
Which of those two would you prefer your character to start in?: Auradon
Are you still interested in having this character in this game at this time if that preference is not met?: Yes
Powers and Abilities: Slightly better than average senses. Most of his superhuman strength and such came from the Daemon blood injections when he was still a kid, and have long since cleared out from his system, but a small amount of lingering effects are still with him. As well as the fact that he’s a genetically enhanced clone, so he’s got a half a leg up on your regular stock human model. He has wings despite not being able to fly with them. He’s a hell of a shot, as well as being trained to be competent in hand to hand and various forms of combat.
What clothing/items did your character arrive with? (See rules and FAQ for what is allowed, feel free to ask if you are unsure): The clothes on his back (boots, pants, tank, and tank jacket, as well as his various arm bands and such) His camera. Everything he owns pretty much atm is stored in the Armiger, which is only accessible via Noct’s magic, and so I would imagine he’s outta luck there.
Optional- What do you have to keep in mind when playing this character?: Boys a nerd, and gonna try and figure out how to play Kings Knight if he can.
What mod candy, if any, does your character bring? (Aka what elements would you really like to see us play with?): He has a barcode on his wrist he would rather die than let anyone see, as well as his general Thing about his own origins. He’s also prone to flashbacks, so, feel free to try and make him sweat if you want.
What else do you think the mods should know about your character or the AU or the cannon the AU is from?: Despite whatever he thinks of himself, he is very much human. The spot I’m pulling him from he’s just kind of gotten found out about everything so he’s a little bit of a wreck atm.
Any questions?: Nope!! (this is a bit later than I’d hoped, please take your time, and count it for May if you’d like!)
